Ludwigia green
Ludwigia green, scientific name Ludwigia inclinata “Green”. It is a natural variety of Ludwigia red, differing from it in the color of the leaves. Comes from Central and South America. It is found everywhere both in swamps and fast-flowing rivers.
The plant forms a tall erect stem with pale green oblong leaves arranged in pairs on each whorl. In favorable conditions, growth rates are very high. For a week, Ludwigia green is able to add 30–40 cm per week. Having reached the surface, it begins to creep along it. From this moment, side shoots begin to actively appear, which in a small aquarium will quickly lead to its overgrowth.
To keep the plant looking compact, it needs to be pruned regularly by cutting off the tips of the stem. New shoots appear in the internodes of the leaves. Separated parts, when placed in the ground, give roots and subsequently become young plants.
Demanding on soil composition and water quality. Needs additional introduction of carbon dioxide, a high level of lighting and nutrient soil. It is recommended to use special aquarium soil rich in minerals.
