Lindernia grandiflora
Lindernia grandiflora, scientific name Lindernia grandiflora. Endemic to the swamps of Florida (USA). Grows in wet damp places along the banks of rivers, lakes, swampy meadows, ditches, etc. Forms creeping sprouts covering the surface of the earth with a dense network.
Available commercially as a potted or garden plant. Several ornamental varieties “Moon” and “Blue Light” have been bred. More recently (in 2013), US aquarists discovered the ability of this plant to grow underwater. In aquariums, Lindernia grandiflora does not spread along the ground, but forms upright vertical stems. The leaves are arranged on the stem in pairs opposite each other. The shape of the leaf blade is round or oval.
A hardy plant that is easy to maintain. When grown in aquariums, it needs a high level of lighting. Shading is not desirable. Any soft soil. A good choice would be to use special aquarium soil rich in nutrients.
