Lindernia dubia

Lindernia dubia, scientific name Lindernia dubia. The plant is native to the east coast of the United States from the regions of California. To date, it has been brought to Europe, where it has successfully taken root in local reservoirs. It grows in shallow water along the banks of rivers, lakes, swamps, as well as on wet substrates near water.

Rarely found in home aquaria, unlike other members of the genus such as Lindernia rotundifolia, Lindernia small-flowered and Lindernia Indian.

Under water, the plant forms an erect stem with paired leaves on an elongated oval whorl. In the surface position, the leaves acquire a deltoid shape with a pointed tip. They bloom with solitary light purple flowers.

Lindernia dubia is easily confused with similar plants of the genus Gratiola. The latter do not grow under water, but this problem is relevant only for North America – the natural habitat of these species.

When growing in an aquarium, it is important to provide a high level of light, the introduction of carbon dioxide during the day, and nutrient soil. With regard to use in decoration, it is suitable for planting in the middle or background. Can become an alternative to Bacopa Caroline.
