Limnophila Vietnam
Limnophila Vietnam, scientific name Limnophila sp. Vietnam. As the name implies, this plant was first exported from Vietnam. Probably, the natural habitat extends to the tropical regions of Southeast Asia. Since 2010, it has become available in Europe.
Under favorable conditions, the plant forms dense, low-growing thickets covering the ground with a solid green “carpet”. Each sprout reaches only 3-4 cm in height. The leaflets have a thin linear-lanceolate shape with serrated edges. The size of the leaf blade is 1.5–2.5 cm long and about 2 mm wide. The leaves are arranged in whorls of 5–7 per stem. The main color is light green. In intense light, reddish-brown hues appear.
Limnophila Vietnam is considered a demanding plant. Needs a high level of lighting, which is problematic to provide in tall large aquariums, given the modest size of the sprouts. Shading is not allowed. Special aquarium soils should be used as a substrate.
In professional aquascaping, it is widely shaded in the so-called “mountain” design layouts, covering the space between heaps of rock, as well as in shallow aquariums.
