Is man a dog’s best friend?

Even in our culture, where dogs are, at least in name, man’s best friend, a lot of people can’t stand these animals. And what can we say about countries where dogs are simply eaten! To us, dog owners and lovers, this seems to be something beyond good and evil.

But is everything so rosy even in the most prosperous countries? Indeed, within the framework of the history of the relationship between people and animals, treating dogs as family members is a rather new and unusual phenomenon.

If you look closely, there are problems in the relationship between dogs and people almost everywhere. For example, in the quite prosperous United States, there are still so-called “puppy farms” where dogs are bred in incredible numbers and kept in terrible conditions. In addition, there is the problem of stray dogs and lack of places in shelters. And this is in a country where there are special units that control the quality of life and the level of welfare of pets! What can we say about the post-Soviet space …

So it’s not just the difference of cultures and mentalities. And although a dog is considered a man’s best friend, man, alas, has not yet become a dog’s best friend.

However, there is always hope for the best.

For example, in some countries where dogs were eaten not so long ago (or are still eaten), the attitude towards these animals is gradually changing and more and more dogs are becoming pets, and not the main dish of the menu.

In the United States and Europe, the intelligence of dogs is being actively studied and many amazing discoveries have already been made that are fundamentally changing our perception of the mental abilities of animals.

Dogs actively influence our lives. For example, experiments have been conducted that have proven that pets contribute to interaction with other people. Dogs take part in animal therapy programs to help people cope with physiological and psychological problems. And they just make us happier.

This inspires confidence that dogs still have a better future in the world of people.
