Is it possible to feed a puppy baby food
Sometimes owners believe that it is possible (and even useful) to feed a puppy with baby food (for example, infant formula). Is it so? Can a puppy be fed baby food?
The answer to this question is “No!” After the puppies are weaned from their mother, they begin to feed a full diet. And in puppyhood, babies especially need a complete diet containing all the necessary substances. And since the nutritional needs of a baby and a puppy are completely different, baby food (including infant formula) is not suitable for feeding a puppy.
If complementary foods are needed for a puppy, it is better to use special diets for this purpose. It is important that puppy food contains all the necessary nutrients and is balanced.
What happens if you feed your puppy baby food? In addition to the fact that baby food does not contain everything a puppy needs, unpleasant consequences are possible:
- Diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.
- Diarrhea and/or vomiting.
- Allergic reactions.
So, instead of feeding your puppy baby food, it is better to buy quality food or, if you prefer natural feeding, prepare special food for the pet.
