How to transport a guinea pig

Home guinea pig is best carried in a special transport box or container, the size and shape of which depend on the size of the animal, mode of transport and distance. It is best to transport the animals one by one so as not to injure them.

Something more durable should be thought of only when we intend to transport the animal over longer distances. You should stock up on a low wooden box, a cage, or a special plastic container with an openwork lid and a carrying handle. Such containers of various sizes are available in many pet stores. Line the bottom of the container with a bedding that absorbs urine. We also put some hay in the container so that the pig has something to eat on the road, as well as a carrot or an apple, so that she can satisfy her need for liquid.

It is strictly forbidden to transport a newly purchased guinea pig in a cage in which she will live, so as not to cause her incurable stress.
