How to take a dog with you to Finland?

Today, our reader Natalya Sokolova shares her experience of traveling with a four-legged friend. Recently, Natalia and her wonderful dog Lilusha visited the country of a thousand lakes – Finland – and were very pleased with the trip!

Finland is a country that is loyal to animals. Therefore, the decision to take a dog with us on a trip came to us almost immediately. We didn’t want to burden our friends with looking after a pet, besides, our Lilusha loves trips, and traveling together is much more interesting!
Going on a trip, I began to search the Internet for a list of necessary documents for a dog and transportation rules. The information was rather scattered, and therefore I decided to share our practical experience with the readers. Perhaps he will be useful.

1. Obtain a Certificate of Form No. 1
2. Exchange the Certificate of Form No. 1 for the Certificate of Form No. 5 at the city customs office.

1. Bring the animal for examination to the state veterinary institution (any veterinary clinic in the neighborhood will not work; the state one is needed!).
2. Vet passport with:
- a mark of a valid rabies vaccination (valid for only a year, plus it must be carried out no later than 30 days before your trip to the veterinarian for form No. 1, that is, at least 35 days before your departure abroad);
- a mark on the microchip (it is already there, it is done once);
- a mark of deworming (no later than 3 months).
3. Veterinary requirements of the country where you are taking the dog – 2 copies. 
What else needs to be remembered?
Not at any border you can bring a dog with you. If you are traveling from St. Petersburg, the nearest and accessible borders for you are:
Torfyanovka
Cranberry.
OK it’s all over Now. If you know all the information in advance and properly prepare, transporting animals across the border does not cause any problems. On the contrary, it is very simple and, of course, fun!
