How to choose a dog bed?
The main types of beds:
A simple bedding or rug. This is the most common and easy to maintain option. Suitable for medium to large dogs who like to sleep in their full length.
Bed for a dog. There are two types: with a soft base or with a plastic one. Caring for soft sunbeds is quite difficult, besides, they can lose their shape. Caring for a plastic lounger is easier, if desired, you can put a soft cover on it (you can put a mattress in it), which is easy enough to wash.
House. Such a sleeping place is usually preferred by representatives of small breeds: Chihuahua, Yorkshire Terrier, Pomeranian. However, representatives of larger breeds will not mind such a place of their own. In the house the dog will feel secure and calm. Usually the houses are entirely made of soft material, which seriously complicates their care.
Factors to consider when choosing a dog bed
Today, the pet products market is saturated with a variety of accessories. In order to immediately buy a bed suitable for your pet, you should decide on its main characteristics:
Dog size. If everything is quite clear with an adult dog in this paragraph, then if you get a puppy, you can do it differently. So, you can buy a bed for growth – for this you need to understand well what size your pet will be when it grows up. A sleeping place is considered ideal when the dog can not only curl up, but also stretch out its paws. For this reason, the length of the bed should match the length of her body from the tip to the beginning of the tail, and in width it should not be less than the length of the paws. Or you can change the bedding as your dog grows. This option will be more expensive, but it has its advantages. You can change the look of the bed, which will help you understand which look your pet likes best. There are also bedding that can transform and change size.
practicality of the material. Dog bedding needs regular care and washing, so choose a material that is practical, easy to care for, and strong enough to withstand many washes. Also, it should not collect dust and wool. The filler for bedding is usually a synthetic winterizer, but there are options with cotton or foam rubber.
Color. It is worth remembering that the lighter the litter, the faster it will become dirty and lose its original appearance. Therefore, a dog bed should be chosen in darker tones, on which the spots will not be so noticeable.
Form. When choosing the type and shape of the bedding, remember that you will have to constantly clean it. For example, in bedding with sides, dust, hair and dirt will constantly accumulate in the folds between the sides and the bottom. However, if cleaning does not scare you too much, you can choose a sunbed of absolutely any shape.
Also, the shape of a bed for a dog depends on what breed the pet is, whether he has hair, how thick it is, what temperature he likes and in what position he prefers to sleep. For example, if your pet has a thick coat or doesn’t like the heat, you should choose a bed with a more open look.
Don’t chase low prices. Cheap materials will not last long, and they can be dangerous to the health of the dog. For example, low-quality materials and dyes can cause allergies in an animal.
