Guppy Tuxedo
Guppy Tuxedo or Tuxedo Guppy translated from English, the scientific name Poecilia reticulata (Tuxedo breed), belongs to the Poeciliidae family. The name indicates the peculiarity of the color of the fish – a light top (front of the body) and a dark bottom (back, tail). The contrast is most noticeable in black and white varieties. Maintenance and care
Guppies are among the easiest and most inexpensive aquarium fish to keep. A couple of fish will feel quite comfortable in relatively small aquariums from 10–20 liters. In former times, for example, in the Soviet years, they were often found in ordinary three-liter jars.
A set of equipment also does not imply large expenses. A simple airlift filter and a light source is the bare minimum you may need. If you intend to place other tropical fish in the aquarium, then an additional heater will be required.
In the presence of at least one pair of male / female, the appearance of juveniles is very likely. In view of the poorly developed parental instincts in guppies, it is recommended to provide hiding places where the fry could hide from the predation of adult fish. Thickets of small-leaved plants will serve as shelters. The rest of the design is selected at the discretion of the aquarist.
Food. They will accept most popular foods in dry, frozen and live form that can fit in their mouth. Most manufacturers produce special foods for this group of fish, so finding suitable products will not be a problem.
behavior and compatibility. Mobile peaceful fish. Tuxedo guppies get along well with relatives. However, it is worth remembering that the joint maintenance of different breeds can lead to the appearance of hybrid offspring. Compatible with many other non-aggressive species of similar size.
