General rules for feeding dogs

Exist general rules for feeding dogs that every owner should know.

  1. At first, follow the recommendations of the breeder. All changes in the diet are introduced gradually and carefully. Old food is gradually replaced by new food, usually within a week. At the same time, carefully monitor the reaction of the dog’s body.
  2. Feed the dog at the same time in the same place. The bowl is removed 15 minutes after the start of feeding, even if there is food left. Throw away uneaten food.
  3. The food should be warm (not cold and not hot).
  4. Water (fresh, clean) must be available at all times. It should be changed at least 2 times a day.
  5. Diet balance.
  6. The right choice of food. Consider the dog’s lifestyle (“sofa” or exhibition), mobility (calm or active). The nutrition of adult dogs is also different from that of puppies. Depending on this, the composition of the feed changes.
  7. A puppy eats more often than an adult dog. Adult dogs most often adhere to two meals a day.
  8. Compliance with the rules of hygiene: food is prepared from fresh, high-quality products. Food must be stored properly. The food bowl is washed after each feeding.
  9. Monitor the condition and health of the dog. If she is active, cheerful, moderately well-fed, her coat is shiny, there are no health problems, then you feed her correctly.
