Elatin triandra

Three-starred warbler or Elatin triandra, scientific name Elatin triandra. The natural habitat extends from Europe to Asia up to Australia. It is also found as an invasive species in North America. It occurs in shallow water in stagnant often drying up reservoirs, swamps, along river banks. In Southeast Asia, it is a frequent visitor to the rice fields.

The plant owes its appearance in the aquarium hobby to a nursery from Singapore, which first put it under the trade name “Ah Pek’s Plant”. It is worth noting that earlier in the 1990s it was already imported from Australia as Povoynichek (Elatine gratioloides), so this erroneous name is sometimes referred to as a synonym.

Elatin triandra forms dense thickets at the bottom of numerous shoots growing on a creeping rhizome. On short stems, oval green leaves are arranged in pairs. As a rule, additional whitish roots grow from the leaf nodes.

A wide distribution area predetermined the ability of this plant to adapt to various conditions. The three-stamen warbler is relatively easy to grow, it can grow in a wide range of temperatures and values ​​of hydrochemical parameters. For normal growth, soft nutrient soil is required.
