Echinodorus muricatus

Echinodorus muricatus, trade name Echinodorus muricatus. It would be more correct to put the name in quotation marks, since such a plant does not exist in nature. This is a collective name applied to various large and similar echinodorus, including hybrids. Commercially, Echinodorus muricatus is most often synonymous with Echinodorus cordifolia and Bristle Echinodorus.

Echinodorus muricatus

Plants of this group have high growth rates, sometimes reaching impressive sizes (up to a meter in height), if they grow in humid greenhouses in the air. Large oval-shaped leaves on long petioles are collected in a rosette, forming a bush. Able to grow underwater. When submerged, leaf blades usually acquire an oblong-oval or lanceolate shape. In water, the plant does not linger for a long time, soon reaches the surface and continues to grow, leaving only petioles under the surface.

“Echinodorus muricatus” is unpretentious and perfectly adapts to different environments, if it is warm enough, moist and contains nutritious soil. Due to its size, it is difficult to attribute it to aquarium plants. It will look most harmoniously in open ponds in the warm season or greenhouses.
