Cryptocoryne related

Related Cryptocoryne, scientific name Cryptocoryne affinis. Widespread on the Malay Peninsula (West Malaysia) in Southeast Asia. It grows in dense clusters along the flooded banks of fast-flowing rivers or in the bed of shallow streams.

Known in the aquarium hobby 1950-x years and at one time was very popular. It is now less common, having been replaced by other closely related species such as Wendt’s Cryptocoryne and Beckett’s Cryptocoryne. It is worth noting that из-за similarities they are often erroneously supplied under the name Cryptocoryne related.

The shape, size and color of the leaves varies greatly depending on the growing conditions. Leaf blades can be oblong-ovate or lanceolate. The leaf surface is silky smooth and often colored in dark green or brownish colors. Leaf veins are often much brighter than the rest of the surface.

Able to grow both under water and out of it, for example, in wet paludariums. In the underwater state, it grows only up to 10 cm in height, forming a small bush. It is not demanding on conditions, does not need additional introduction of carbon dioxide and fertilizers, and can develop in low light. Since it naturally grows in limestone river valleys, the related Cryptocoryne can successfully adapt to high hardness.
