Coleman’s coffin

Monetary loosestrife (monetary) or Meadow tea, scientific name Lysimachia nummularia. It grows in Europe and North America, found in wet meadows, along river banks, in wetlands. The plant forms long creeping stems with leaves on short stalks. At the beginning of summer in the axils of the leaves are formed golden yellow flowers. In the aquarium trade, an ornamental variety called yellow loosestrife (Lysimachia nummularia “Aurea”) is better known.

Often used as a garden plant, onion tea is excellent for use in ponds, as an ornamental turf in home gardens with wet soils, and in hanging pots.

Monetary loosestrife is able to grow completely immersed in water, both in cold and warm, which allows it to be used in tropical aquariums. When submerged, the stems take on a vertical shape and reach about 40 cm in length. This is a simple and unpretentious plant that requires little or no maintenance. A good choice for beginner aquarists.
