Ceylon shrimp
The Ceylon dwarf shrimp (Caridina simoni simoni) belongs to the Atyidae family. Loved by many aquarists for its mobility and original body color – translucent with numerous small specks of various colors of dark shades and irregular lines. This species is easily distinguished from others by the fact that it has a curved back – this is the visiting card of the Ceylon shrimp. Adults rarely exceed 3 cm in length, life expectancy is about 2 years.

Maintenance and care
It is easy to keep and breed at home, does not require special conditions, successfully adapts to a wide range of pH and dGH values. It is allowed to keep together with small peaceful species of fish. The design should provide for places for shelters (driftwood, caves, grottoes) and areas with vegetation, i.e. suitable for almost any common underwater landscape of the average amateur aquarium. They feed on the same types of food as fish, as well as algae and organic debris.
It is noteworthy that when breeding the Ceylon dwarf shrimp does not interbreed with other types of shrimp, so the likelihood of hybrids is practically absent. The offspring appears every 4-6 weeks, but it is extremely difficult to see it at first. Juveniles do not swim in the aquarium and prefer to hide in thickets of plants.
