A fairly large plant, reaches 60 cm in height, and long ribbon-like leaves can be scattered on the sides by 40 cm. The edge of the leaf is wavy, and they are hard to the touch, which is reflected in the name of this species. The plant itself is green, but young leaves have a reddish tint.

Aponogeton hard-leaved is demanding on conditions. Needs a good level of illumination, soil rich in minerals and additional introduction of carbon dioxide. Due to the high need for light, other plants that can shade it should not grow nearby. It is recommended to provide internal flow so that the leaves maintain their tone from constant swaying.
