Aponogeton Boivin, scientific name Aponogeton boivinianus. This plant is native to the island of Madagascar, where it grows in shallow pools of stagnant water and in flooded areas along river banks under rainforest canopy.
The plant reaches a height of up to 80 cm and covers an area at the bottom of about half a meter in diameter, so it does not belong in a small aquarium. Outwardly, it resembles Cryptocoryne aponogetonolista. Translucent ribbon-like leaves dark green colors and a width of about 3 cm. have an unusual structure – reminiscent of convex-concave cells enclosed between parallel veins. In favorable conditions, it forms a massive tuber, where nutrients accumulate. In nature, during the winter months (in the southern hemisphere this is June-August), with a decrease in rainfall, Aponogeton Boivina sheds leaves and survives due to the tuber. In some cases, this can also happen in an aquarium. In this case, do not immediately throw away the plant, it is likely that after a while young leaves will appear.
