Anubias caladifolia
Anubias bartera caladifolia, scientific name Anubias barteri var. Caladiifolia. Representative of an extensive group of Anubis, growing throughout equatorial and tropical Africa. This plant can be found on swampy banks, in the shallow water of rivers and streams, as well as near waterfalls, where it is attached to the surface of stones, rocks, fallen trees.
The plant has large green ovoid leaves, reaching up to 24-25 cm in length, while the old leaves become heart-shaped. The surface of the sheets is smooth, the edges are even or wavy. There is a selection form grown in Australia called Anubias barteri var. Caladiifolia “1705”. It differs in that all its leaves, even young ones, are shaped like hearts.
This unpretentious marsh plant is able to grow successfully in various conditions, not demanding on the mineral composition of the soil and the level of illumination. An excellent choice for the beginner aquarist. The only limitation, due to its size, is not suitable for small aquariums.
