Alternantera pink
Alternanthera Reineckii pink, scientific name Alternanthera reineckii “Rosaefolia”, belongs to a large genus with more than 170 related species. It was first introduced in 1956 to the Netherlands under the name “Flower from the Land of Osiris”. It is one of the few species of its genus that can grow underwater. In nature, it grows in South America on the banks of rivers subject to regular flooding during the rainy season.
Five varieties of Alternanther Reineck are currently cultivated, but the most famous and unpretentious is the Pink variety, which is distinguished by rich red hues. The plant is able to grow successfully even in low light or in the shade of other larger species. The hydrochemical composition is also not significant.
This species contrasts favorably with other green plants, making it the most popular plant in Dutch aquariums. In amateur aquaristics it is in no less demand, a group of 3-5 shoots is able to enliven any design.
