Why pets get lost and what to do if your pet ran away
Interview with the director of the fund for helping homeless animals “Giving hope” – Svetlana Safonova.
On December 4, at 11.00:XNUMX am, SharPei Online will host a webinar “”.
We were impatient to talk about these important topics in advance and we interviewed the speaker of the webinar – the director of the “Giving Hope” Foundation Svetlana Safonova.
- What do you think is the most common reason for lost pets? Under what circumstances?
– Pets are lost only due to the carelessness and irresponsibility of the owner or guardian. Dogs are afraid of fireworks, but our people stubbornly go out for a walk with the dog on New Year’s Eve! The dog is frightened, breaks off the leash (and some walk without a leash at all) and runs away in an unknown direction.
Many dogs are not found, some, unfortunately, die. Could this have been avoided? Of course! We need a noisy holiday with fireworks, not dogs. They need a quiet, peaceful place in the house.
- What should you do to keep your pets safe?
– Cats fall out of windows, because there is no protection on the windows: they break, they get lost. And the owner was sure that this would never happen to him, because his cat does not like to sit on the window. But no one is immune from trouble.
So that pets do not get lost and do not get into unpleasant situations, the owner must be prudent. Ask yourself the question: what will be the consequences if I do this, and not otherwise?
Getting a cat or dog is like having another child. Are you prudent when you have a child? You know what not to do and what you can. And here is the same. A dog has the intelligence of a 5-year-old child. If you have a dog, then you have a 5-year-old child living in your family.
- But what if the pet still ran away from home? What are the first steps to take, where to go?
Put up ads – very tightly – on poles, trees, near entrances. Search and call. The first 2-3 days the pet will definitely not run far. He hides near where he disappeared.
We need to try to attract as many people as possible to the search. Place ads in regional groups.
- Does the foundation help the lost find a home?
Our activity is directed in a different direction, but we regularly post announcements about the lost. We can tell you where and how to look for a pet.
- Tell us about the “Become Santa Claus” campaign that you are currently running.
– The “Become Santa Claus” campaign is held from November 15 to January 15 in Beethoven stores and at the feed collection point at the “Yolka Giving Hope” exhibition. Anyone can donate money for food or veterinary drugs. Someone can collect gifts for animals from shelters at home or with colleagues at work and bring them to our Christmas tree.
- What can you bring as a gift to animals?
– Animals from shelters always need:
dry and wet food for dogs and cats
toilet filler
flea and tick remedies
anthelmintic preparations
Toys
bowls
heaters for aviaries.
We invite everyone to participate!
Friends, now you can register for the webinar “”. Svetlana will tell you more about what to do in an emergency and what to do if you find someone else’s pet. Looking forward to meeting you!
