Why listen to the breeder?

Turning to a good breeder, we get not only a pet, but also a pile of recommendations on its maintenance and care. We treat it differently. Some of us listen, others want to raise a pet on our own, without outside interference. But the latter approach can backfire. In our article we will tell you why and why you need to listen to the breeder.

You can and should listen to the breeder, with one clarification. This should be a good experienced breeder that you will trust. Such a breeder knows everything about the breed with which he works. He raised many generations of pets and knows the answers to all your questions.

  • The breeder will provide a lot of useful information about the breed: what qualities will the pets have, who are they suitable for and who are not? After a conversation with a professional, the future owner will be sure that he made the right choice (or vice versa, he will make a different decision).

  • The breeder will talk about the strengths and weaknesses of their pets: their health status, hereditary diseases and individual characteristics. This information will be very useful in the future.

  • The breeder will introduce the pet’s pedigree. The breeding line is of great importance in choosing a healthy animal.

  • The breeder will provide the necessary documentation for the pet, which will contain basic information about him, marks on vaccinations and treatment against parasites. The necessary information will always be at hand from the owner.

  • The breeder will tell you how to care for the pet. Without it, nowhere! Even if you have already had animals, you do not know all the nuances of caring for a particular breed. And the breeder knows – and will gladly share with you.

  • The breeder will tell you how to facilitate the adaptation of a pet in a new home and reduce stress for the body.

  • The breeder will provide contacts of veterinary specialists, groomers, cynologists and other professionals whose services may be useful in the future. The owner will not have to spend time on independent searches, but the main thing is that he will turn to a trusted specialist who knows how to work specifically with his pet.

  • You can always contact the breeder to clarify this or that question.

Perhaps the breeder will even issue a “dowry”, which will include food and other essentials. Even if the owner does not like, for example, the food given out, you still need to follow the recommendations of the breeder. At least the first time. This is necessary not for the owner, not for the breeder, but for the pet itself!

Just imagine: the baby is used to the environment that the breeder has created for him, and suddenly he suddenly finds himself in a new home. And there are different people, and smells, and objects. There are no mothers, brothers and sisters nearby. This is a huge stress for both the psyche and the body as a whole. If you start doing everything “your way”, immediately change the diet, care procedures and so on – you will only increase stress. How will the fragile body react to this? Everything is possible: from behavioral problems to a serious illness.

Over time, you will make changes to your pet’s life if necessary, but do it smoothly, with minimal stress for him.

It is important to understand that the breeder does not question your experience, knowledge and wishes. However, by the nature of the work, he is more immersed in the topic, so it is better to immediately discuss all controversial points and listen to the arguments.

A good breeder loves his pets and cares about their future. He tries to give as many recommendations as possible and possibly controls the owner in the early stages. This is a good safety net, whose goal is the well-being of the pet. And in this you are at the same time!
