The fact is that the dog’s attachment to the owner includes two components: an emotional connection and the perception of a person as a base of safety. That is, it is to the one who is the base of safety that the dog will run if he feels frightened or insecure. And it is in the presence of such a person that the dog will more actively explore the world around him and play.

Most often, the dog clings to the owner if it is scared or nervous. For example, in a veterinary clinic or when meeting with something terrible on the street. This is a signal that the pet trusts you and is counting on your support and protection.

Sometimes dogs cling to the owner and relax, even fall asleep. In this case, the posture of the dog also demonstrates calmness and peace. This is a sign that the dog feels comfortable in your company and is sure that you will not harm him.

Sometimes the dog clings to the owner and looks into his eyes. Most likely, at this moment the dog needs something from you: for example, he is thirsty or wants to go for a walk.
