When do kittens stop growing?
If you are curious about how big your cat will grow, then in order to understand this, first of all you need to know the age of the kitten and its breed; if you picked up the baby on the street, then it will be more difficult to predict its size.
The main growth in kittens occurs up to 6 months, then it gradually stops. Kittens typically grow eight times in just eight weeks:
under the age of 1 week, the kitten weighs less than 115 grams;
from 7 to 10 days the kitten weighs 115-170 grams;
from 10 to 14 days – 170-230 grams;
from 14 to 21 days – 230-340 grams;
from 4 to 5 weeks – 340-450 grams;
from 6 to 7 weeks – 450-800 grams;
at 8 weeks, the kitten already weighs up to 900 grams;
at 12 weeks – 1,3-2,5 kg;
at 16 weeks – 2,5-3,5 kg;
from 6 months to 1 year – from 3,5 to 6,8 kg.
The size of your pet depends on its breed and genetics. Gender is also important – males are usually larger than females. But the size of the paws of a kitten does not say anything about its future height and weight – only dogs have such a correlation.
The average member of the cat family weighs about 4,5 kg. Maine Coons, the largest cats, weigh about 9-10 kg. And they take longer to grow than all other breeds – some breeds take up to 5 years to reach their regular size.
It turns out that almost all cats in six months already reach their constant size, so you don’t have much time to enjoy a very small kitten.
