The most important of them is the organization of the habitat conditions closest to the wild environment for animals. Rabbits are known for being unpretentious in their diet and care, as well as resistant to many diseases.

Nevertheless, the cage must be selected very carefully, depending on the number of individuals, as well as their age and gender.

Cage for group keeping of young animals

“Young animals” include animals that have already stopped feeding on milk, but which have not yet reached the age of reproduction. In 70% of cases in rabbits, cessation of lactation occurs at the age of 30 to 45 days.

During this period, they make the resettlement of rabbits. They are divided into those that are intended for breeding and those that go to slaughter. The first is also distributed by gender. When placed outdoors, the young cage must be kept a short distance from the ground, it must be clean and spacious. In case of use for placing an enclosed space, it must be provided with good lighting and ventilation.

Animals for slaughter are placed in groups of 6-8 individuals. There are those who increase the number of animals to 10-15. The least required enclosure area per animal should be 0.12 m². To keep breeding young animals in the amount of 4-8 animals, an area of ​​​​0.17 m² per individual is needed. To avoid premature mating, it is better to immediately separate females and males, although sometimes they are kept together until 3 months of age.

A cell can be one-sided (in the case when it is one plane in the form of a grid) or two-sided (when two opposite planes appear open). It is necessary to choose one of them depending on the environmental conditions.

Cage for adult animals

After reaching 3 months of age, young animals are seated due to an increase in their aggressiveness. Cases of entering into fights among males are becoming more frequent, they do not get along well with representatives of their sex.

Females are kept in small groups of 2-3 individuals. Males of reproductive age should only be placed individually in a cage. If there is no possibility for single seating, then they are castrated. In the case of breeding animals for the purpose of obtaining fur, it is very important to avoid fights and “snacks” on the skin.

For adult rabbits, the size of the enclosure depends on their breed. Usually they are made 35-40 cm high and 120 cm wide. It is better to hang the feeder and drinker for animals on the mesh wall of the cage. This will avoid turning over the bowls, and the animals will not suffer from thirst or hunger.

Two-story shed

This system allows you to save space when keeping rabbits. Shed is a series of cells that are placed in one or more tiers. A two-tiered shed is the best choice for a breeder, as it allows you to reduce the working area without complicating the process of caring for and controlling the growth and development of animals.

This type of structure is in most cases used in warm areas to find animals on the street. Although some breeders use it to keep rabbits in the summer or as a way to place cages in a barn.

Shed should not be located at ground level. It is optimal to place it at a height of 50-60 cm from the ground. This design is also called “Klenovo-Chagadayevo”. It accommodates non-pregnant females at the age of reproduction. It is also used for young animals. Sometimes, for breeding, a cage with an aviary is suitable. In this case, the male and female are placed in one of the halves of the enclosure.

The cage in which the rabbits are kept is divided by a partition, but has a common exit to a mesh aviary. This has a good effect on the condition of the pets, as it gives them the opportunity to actively move around. In this case, you can get offspring even in winter. Rabbit for a garden plot

Keeping and breeding animals in a garden or homestead usually occurs only when it is warm outside. Cells are best placed in a place that is moderately shaded.
