What treats to give a kitten?

Raising a kitten is a responsible business. A small pet is going through a period of rapid growth and development. Care, vaccinations, proper nutrition – the owner of a kitten needs to keep a lot of things under control. Treats for kittens also need to be chosen with all seriousness. We’ll show you how.

A treat for kittens is not just pampering. This is your way to express your love to your pet, find an approach to him, gain his trust. And delicacies are the key to the successful upbringing of a small domestic tiger cub. Food reward for animals is the strongest. It is hard to imagine how it would be possible to accustom a kitten to a couch or carrying without a treat! But the treat will be really useful only if it suits the kitten. What delicacies are we talking about?

The treat should bring joy to the pet, be “too tough” for him. At three to five months, milk teeth begin to fall out in kittens, and by seven to eight months, the baby acquires a system of molars. For kids, snacks, tidbits, meat pieces in jelly are more suitable.

Treats for kittens and for adult cats differ in composition. A growing body needs treats with a high content of proteins and with special fats containing fatty acids. The number one ingredient in the composition should be meat (about 90%). Pay attention to the content of vitamins, minerals, calcium and taurine. These components contribute to the formation of the musculoskeletal system, the health of the coat and skin of the pet.

Treats should complement and add variety to your kitten’s diet, but it’s important not to overfeed or substitute treats for the main meal. Read the information on the package: it indicates how many treats you can give a kitten per day.

If your four-legged friend is on a therapeutic diet prescribed by a veterinarian, do not overdo it. If the kitten is not doing well with health, the desire to treat him with something tasty can turn into a deterioration in the well-being of your ward. Any additions to the diet must be agreed with the veterinarian. Ask a specialist how you can pamper your pet if you really want it.

Complete foods and treats designed specifically for kittens, taking into account the needs of the baby’s body. They have everything you need for healthy development and you do not have to purchase an additional vitamin and mineral complex. But if you prefer to cook food for your pet yourself, then nutrition, treats and the introduction of vitamins must be agreed with the veterinarian.

What treats to give a kitten?

For kittens, it is better to choose both food and super premium treats. For their production, selected, high-quality products are used – this reduces the risk of food intolerances.

Delicacies of the same brand are well combined with each other, so it is not recommended to change the manufacturer later. Choose treats within the same brand if they are suitable for your pet.

Give preference to manufacturers who specialize in pet food. If a large industry has branches where food is produced for people, and there are those where food and treats are made for pets, there is no guarantee that the treat will not contain an admixture of raw materials left over from the production of food for people.

We emphasize once again that it is necessary to choose treats specifically for kittens, and not for adult pets. A treat for a kitten should be highly palatable, healthy and safe. Trusted treats are free of GMOs, sugar, artificial colors and flavors.

Always read the ingredients on the product packaging carefully. What ingredients, besides meat, can be in the composition of a high-quality and healthy treat for kittens? These are fish, fruits, vegetables, useful plants, berries … Make sure that all ingredients are disclosed. For example, the wording “meat products” does not mean anything. The manufacturer must indicate what kind of meat and in what proportions is included in the composition.

Check the expiration date, make sure the packaging is intact. Don’t skimp on pet treats. An attractive price is often associated with low-quality raw materials. This, in turn, poses a threat to the health of the baby.

What treats to give a kitten?

Treats for pets differ not only in age categories, composition and taste properties. It is important to keep in mind the purpose and their form.

  • For education, small treats are ideal. Which will be easy to chew and not too distract the baby from communicating with you.

  • Dental treats are designed to take care of your teeth. They will help relieve discomfort when changing teeth, clean your mouth and freshen your breath.

  • Catnip treats have a calming effect and are great for hyperactive pets. Please note that 25% of cats are statistically indifferent to catnip, this is normal.

  • There are functional delicacies that serve to improve digestion, prevent diseases, remove hair from the body. Such treats are recommended by a veterinarian, depending on the characteristics of the pet.

  • And, of course, all delicacies are suitable for showing their love, as a simple treat. Classic treats for kittens are tasty sticks (“sausages”).

  • Special pastes for removing wool can hardly be called goodies, but this is also an important addition to the diet of fluffy pets. The use of paste helps to avoid the formation of hairballs in the digestive tract and to remove swallowed wool from the body in a natural way.

  • It is useful for kittens to buy germinated oats. You can grow it in a pot yourself. The grass, like the paste, helps to clear the stomach of hairballs and is usually liked by pets.

Every time you give your pet a new treat, watch the body’s reaction. Negative changes in the pet’s stool, the manifestation of an allergic reaction can be caused by an unsuccessfully chosen treat. Even the best kitten treats may not be to your liking.

We wish your kittens the most delicious and healthy treats!
