What to look for in a breeder

Of course, it is better to take a puppy from a competent, conscientious breeder in a proven nursery. But how to understand that the breeder is really good?

The first piece of advice is don’t be in a hurry to make a choice. It’s great if there is an opportunity to go to several nurseries to compare them.

It’s good when you can get acquainted with already grown puppies from previous litters from this kennel. So you will understand what will come of your pet. And at the same time, the owners of other “graduates” will share their impressions.

It is worth getting to know the parents of the kids. They should not be cowardly or show unmotivated aggression.

A good breeder will definitely tell you about the specifics of the breed, the character and behavior of each puppy.

The room where the puppies live should be clean. An unpleasant odor is a cause for concern.

The floor must not be slippery.

Pay attention to how much the breeder has taken care of enriching the environment for puppies, whether the devices for games are thought out. Ask about the socialization of babies. The mental health and behavior of the puppy depends on this.

Feel free to ask questions: how and what do the puppies eat, how did the “graduates” from previous litters prove themselves. If the breeder is reluctant to answer or he is clearly annoyed by questions, leave.

At the same time, don’t be alarmed if the breeder asks you a lot of questions. The goal of a good breeder is not to sell a puppy, but to find suitable owners for it. After all, conscientious breeders monitor the fate of puppies, and they are not indifferent to how they will live. In addition, it will help to understand in time whether you have chosen the right breed, and if so, you will be helped to choose the most suitable puppy for you.

Puppies should be active, with a good appetite. The eyes and ears of healthy puppies are clean, there are no bald spots on the coat. Babies should be well-fed, but without bloated tummies.

If you are not sure that you can choose the right breeder and puppy yourself, you may want to seek the advice of a competent specialist who will help you decide.
