What determines the weight of newborn Vietnamese piglets
Vietnamese piglets are very cute and funny creatures, and besides, they do not require any special care for themselves. They are smaller in size than regular gilts, so farmers and people with small households usually like to start them. Many nowadays even have them as pets.
It is impossible to accurately determine the weight of a piglet in advance, because it directly depends on the weight of the sow, first of all, and on many other factors.
On average, piglets weigh about five hundred grams. There are cases when piglets are born very small, and if the weight is less than three hundred grams, then the chances of survival of such babies are almost zero if they are not fattened and left alone.
Only natural food should be used for feeding, chemical food additives are very harmful, and are mainly aimed at increasing the volume of pigs. The best solution would be to opt for natural products, preferably home-made products. You can give meat and dairy products, cereals and grains. Weight also depends on how many piglets are born from one sow at a time. The more there were, the less will be the weight of each of them. Pigs can eat their young if there are a lot of them. To avoid this moment, you can move them to some other place until they almost grow up. In order for the babies to receive all the time the beneficial nutrients contained in the sow’s milk, you need to strain the milk from her and feed them. It is very important to remember that immediately after birth, babies must drink this milk, otherwise they will die. You can bring 2-3 piglets to feed at a time to make it easier to look after them. Also, newborn piglets have a very low iron content in the blood, so they need an urgent injection.
Some people have Vietnamese pigs at home in the same way as dogs and cats. They are no worse than the hamsters and parrots we are used to, especially since going out for a walk with a pig looks much more extravagant.
To help farmers, a piglet weight table can serve. This table contains all the necessary parameters for piglets, depending on their weight.
Do not believe a lot of false information spread on the Internet. Some sources report that piglets can be fed exclusively with one grass, as you already understand, this is not the case. If the piglet does not receive enough vitamins, then he may die or become very ill, which will later lead to death.
