Water and juices for the parrot
All living creatures should have constant access to clean drinking water, and parrots are no exception.
Water consumption depends on the amount of fruits, vegetables and other food eaten, as well as on air temperature. Some owners are convinced that if a feathered pet drinks little and there is liquid in the drinker, the water does not need to be changed. It’s a delusion. Water should be changed to clean and fresh every day. And in the summer, you should change the water twice a day. You should not give the parrot water from the tap, carbonated or boiled. The best option is still bottled water containing potassium (minimum 20), sodium and magnesium.
If you offer your feathered friend filtered tap water, be sure to keep the filter in good working order.
You can add a few drops of lemon juice, rosehip or chamomile decoction to the water. Juice is very useful for parrots. Juices for birds are made from healthy fruits and vegetables using a juicer or purchased ready-made – in jars for baby food. But purchased baby juice should not contain sugar. Juice can be diluted with water. Please note that juice quickly deteriorates in heat, so it should not be in the drinker for a long time.
