Vaccination of adult dogs
Our pets are surrounded by a huge number of dangerous viruses. Some of them lead to death. A prime example is rabies. It is a deadly disease carried by foxes, rodents, cats and dogs. And if a city dog, most likely, will not meet with an infected fox, then getting a bite from an infected relative is as easy as shelling pears. Rabies and many other dangerous viruses will not be protected by good nutrition and good health. The only protection is annual vaccination.
Timely vaccination is the protection of not only the dog, but also the owner, as well as everyone around. Infected pets become carriers themselves. They pass the virus down the chain: to humans and other animals they come into contact with. Therefore, when asked whether a dog needs vaccination, experts unequivocally answer in the affirmative. This is a mandatory procedure that is not only possible, but must be followed. Absolutely every dog and strictly on schedule.
Without a veterinary passport with up-to-date vaccinations, you will not be able to transport your pet abroad. Vaccination of dogs is mandatory internationally.
What is vaccination?
Vaccination introduces a virus into the dog’s body. It’s called an antigen. This virus is killed or weakened, so the immune system can suppress it. In response to the introduction of the vaccine, the immune system begins to produce antibodies that destroy the virus and “remember” it. After the procedure, antibodies continue to circulate in the blood for several months. On average – about a year, which is why re-vaccination is carried out every year to maintain protection. If a “real” virus enters the body during this period, the body will meet it with ready-made antibodies and fight back.
Unfortunately, vaccination does not guarantee 100% protection against the virus, but reduces the risk of infection to a minimum. In the event of infection, a vaccinated dog will tolerate the disease much more easily, with minimal health risks.
What vaccinations are given to dogs?
Adult dogs are vaccinated against the most dangerous and common diseases that can be transmitted from carriers. Among them: rabies, leptospirosis, canine distemper, infectious cough, parvovirus enteritis, parainfluenza, adenovirus of the respiratory tract, adenovirus hepatitis. From part of the viruses, animals are vaccinated in a complex, with one vaccine.
