Any manipulation in the oral cavity of a cat requires general anesthesia. Before anesthesia of any complexity and duration, a screening examination of the body is necessary, and in case of abnormalities, a more detailed one.

Such measures are taken primarily in order to protect the patient from injury, aspiration (inhalation or passive entry into the lungs of various substances in a massive volume, in this case it is water, local antiseptics, blood, fragments of dental deposits), pain and stress.
