Transportation of parrots

If you decide to transport a parrot over a long distance, be sure to create comfortable conditions for it. Most importantly, the bird must be isolated from external factors, i.e. you need to transport a parrot in a box or basket hung with a cloth.

Recommendations for transporting parrots

Difficulties in transportation

First of all, this is done to avoid stress from fear, which can lead to psychological problems, and also so that the parrot does not rush about from fear and does not hurt anything. Well, and secondly, it is of course the protection of the bird from drafts, which can be extremely harmful to health.

Transportation of parrots

If you are transporting a parrot in a box, be sure to make breathing holes in the walls so that the bird does not suffocate, and put a small piece of cloth on the bottom, preferably terry cloth, or just a damp cloth. This is done so that your pet’s little paws do not slip on the paper base. Any box will do, but in no case after household chemicals. The smell from it is persistent and lasts quite a long time, and inhaling it will in no way improve the condition of your already frightened bird. In addition to the box, you can also use an ordinary basket, which must be covered with a cloth on top.

Recommendations

There is also a special carrier for transporting birds. It is a container with three blank walls and one barred. Deaf walls will not allow the bird to rush about and damage itself. Whichever type of transport you choose for your pet, be sure to put some food on the bottom and give a small piece of an apple. An apple will replace moisture if the parrot is very thirsty. In no case do not transport a parrot in a cage in which he will later live. This place will be associated with him with severe stress and the period of adaptation may be greatly delayed because of this. When you finally arrive at the place, do not reach the bird with your hands – do not injure its psychological state even more. Better just bring the container to the cage door. The parrot will come out of the darkness of his mobile home on his own into a light cage.
