Tips for Proper Home Puppy Training

home training

The principles of home training are very simple. You want to train your puppy to defecate in a certain place and at the same time prevent him from forming the habit of doing it in unauthorized places. Our tips will help you successfully train him at home. Ask your veterinarian about paper training if you can’t take your puppy outside to urinate.

Keep your puppy in sight Your puppy will not develop any bad habits in the house if he is in the sight of any of the family members 100% of the time. If this is not possible, the puppy’s movements should be restricted to a relatively small, safe area (such as an aviary). It should be supervised or kept in an enclosure until at least four consecutive weeks have passed without “incidents” in the house.

Set a schedule Show your puppy where to pee by regularly taking him to the right place and letting him sniff the area. Take your puppy outside immediately after eating, playing or napping before putting him in the kennel, and whenever he starts sniffing corners as if he is about to go to the bathroom. Feed your puppy two to three times a day at the same time. Do not feed him an hour before putting him in the aviary and before going to bed.

Reward Good Behavior While your puppy is peeing, quietly praise him, and when he is done, give him a piece of Science Plan Puppy food as a reward. Give him the reward right away, not when he gets back to the house. This will help to quickly educate him and teach him to do his business in the right place.

Bad things happen… Puppies are not perfect and trouble will happen. In such cases, never punish your puppy. This will damage your relationship and may slow down home training and parenting. If you catch the baby urinating in the wrong place, make a sharp sound (clap your hands, stamp your foot), without saying anything. You just need to stop what he is doing and not scare him. After that, immediately take the puppy outside so that he finishes his business. Be sure to mop the floor and clean the carpet, eliminating any odors to prevent repeat incidents. Wash your puppy’s bed regularly and take him outside at night if necessary, as sleeping on a soiled bed can slow down his house training.
