Spotted Corydoras
Spotted Corydoras or Black-Striped Catfish Corydoras, scientific name Corydoras melanistius, belongs to the family Callichthyidae, also known as Black Sail Corydoras. It comes from coastal waters and rivers from a relatively small area of Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana (North-East of South America). It occurs in sluggish waters, channels of larger rivers, lakes, backwaters. Despite coastal distribution, it does not tolerate salt or brackish water.
Description
Adult individuals reach a length of up to 6 cm. The dominant color of the body is silvery with a yellowish tint (depending on lighting), the pattern consists of numerous small dark specks continuing on the tail and fins. The head and dorsal fin have a wide black stroke, and the fin becomes almost completely dark in color.
