general description
Head, eyes and ears
The head is short and broad, with a good width of the muzzle and a soft roundness of the profile, without the slightest hint of flatness. The eyes should be large and round, prominent and clear, of any color. The ears should be large, shaped like a rose petal, lowered and set well apart. The hair on the head should grow strictly in the direction of the sacrum.
Body
Must be strong and compact, of good size for the age of the gilt.
Wool texture and thickness
The coat should be soft, silky, free flowing, clean and free from tangles. Although the coat should be as straight as possible, a slight wave should not be severely penalized. The coat should be well padded and thick, especially close to the body where the undercoat is more visible.
Wool
Whiskers should be as long and thick as possible, according to the age of the pig and the length of the hair on the shoulders. The shoulders should be broad, with the length of the hair appropriate for age, blending smoothly into the coat on the flanks. The train should fall from the back of the body and should be tight, of maximum length, in general slightly longer than the coat on the flanks. Seen from above, there should be no areas where the coat is less dense or shorter than on the rest of the body. The finer coat can only be found at the very ends of the hair in older gilts, as the undercoat cannot be as long.
Mane
Should not be parted. Its dense length should correspond to the age of the pig. It should be combed back and smoothly transition into a train.
Presentation
The gilt must be shown in good shape, clean and well groomed. Must be displayed on special stands. Shelties are exhibited without parting in the center of the body.
Note: Shelties can be absolutely any color.
