Rotala brindle
Rotala tiger, trade name Rotala macrandra “Variegated”. It is a variety of Rotala macrandra, differing from the latter only in the pattern of the leaves, in which there are dark stripes – hence the prefix to the name “brindle”.
In a favorable environment, it grows very quickly, developing bright red large leaves, arranged in pairs on long stems. However, creating optimal conditions is quite problematic.
When searching for information about the features of growing Rotal, not only the “Tiger” variety, sometimes you can find directly opposite versions about the composition of water and the necessary mineral additives (fertilizers). Very often, aquarists overestimate the importance of top dressing, “overfeeding” plants with iron, phosphates and other trace elements. In some cases, excellent results can be achieved in quite traditional ways: by providing nutrient soil (aquarium soil), a high level of lighting and soft, slightly acidic water.
The most reliable information should be obtained from specialists from aquarium plant nurseries or specialized pet stores where the plant is purchased. A good solution would be to recreate the conditions in which it grew before the purchase.
