Relatives: Moko
Moko (Kerodon), nicknamed the rocky pig, is also classified as a half-hoofed family. In appearance, it resembles a guinea pig, but is somewhat larger (weighs about 1 kg). It lives in rocky and barren areas of Patagonia and Brazil. It hides in rocky crevices or digs holes under stones. Goes out for food at night. It feeds on plants. One species (Kerodon australis) tolerates thirst so easily that it does without water at all. Moko climbs trees and rocks beautifully.
око (Kerodon rupestris) highly prized as a game with exceptionally tasty and tender meat. It is somewhat reminiscent of rabbit meat, but much juicier and more tender. Despite the fact that a lot of cattle are bred in their habitats, and there is always plenty of sheep and meat, the locals hunt for these animals to prepare delicious treats.
