Rainbow Kabi
Rainbow Kabi, scientific name Glossolepis kabia, belongs to the family Melanotaeniidae (Rainbows). The fish is native to Papua New Guinea. Inhabits the Sepik River and Ramu River basins. During the rainy season, both rivers merge, forming a common floodplain.
Found everywhere. They live in both clear and turbid waters with fast and weak currents. All biotopes are united by the presence of dense aquatic vegetation.
Description
Adults reach a length of about 8 cm. The fish have a gradient color. The upper part of the body is greenish or bluish-silver, and the lower part near the abdomen looks orange. A similar coloration is given by bright orange stripes, which are more contrasting on the abdomen and less pronounced on the back.
Behavior and Compatibility
Peaceful active fish, gets along well with relatives and other types of Rainbows. Fish that are similar in size and temperament can be good tankmates. They prefer to be in a flock of 6-8 individuals.
