Rainbow Angfa
Rainbow Angfa, scientific name Melanotaenia angfa, belongs to the family Melanotaeniidae (Rainbows). In the wild, the fish is found only in two tributaries of the Yakati River on the isthmus of the Chendrawasih Peninsula in the northwest of the island of New Guinea. Both tributaries flow through mountainous terrain and are characterized by clear running water, rocky substrates and little aquatic vegetation.
Description
Adults reach a length of about 12 cm. The fish has a bright yellow body color with a black stripe running along the lateral line. Outwardly, it resembles Axelrod’s Rainbow, but the latter has red fins.
Behavior and Compatibility
An active mobile fish, prefers a community with representatives of its own species or other Rainbowfish. May be compatible with many non-aggressive and non-territorial aquarium fish of comparable size.

Maintenance and care, arrangement of the aquarium
Rarely found in aquariums, for this reason, there is little information on successful cases of keeping in an artificial environment.
Optimal conditions can be considered to resemble the natural habitat. For a flock of 6-8 fish, you will need a spacious tank of 150 liters or more. The design is simple, consisting of rocky soil and snags. It is acceptable to place plants that can grow on a stone or tree base, for example, Anubias, Bucephalandra, numerous aquatic mosses and ferns.
Water parameters should have elevated pH and GH values. Water quality depends on the smooth operation of the filtration system and the regular maintenance of the aquarium.
Food
Acclimatized fish are likely to accept most popular dry, frozen and live foods.
