Putting on the bridle

To bring the horse into the arena, a bridle should be put on the horse. The technology of putting on is as follows:

Take the bridle in your left hand, call out to the horse and, opening the door to the stall, stroke it. Now you can put on the bridle.
Unfasten the chin strap with your right hand, thereby releasing the fastened rein.
The bridle is in your left hand, and the reins are in your right, you are standing at the left shoulder of the horse. Boldly step forward to the head, with your right hand throw the rein over the horse’s head and around his neck.
Now you will need a clear coordination of hand movements. Grasp the horse’s head with your right hand and at the same time lift the bridle with your left hand so that with the palm and fingers of your right hand you can press the middle of the cheek straps firmly against his nose. With your free left hand, put the bit into the horse’s mouth.
She parted her lips a little and seized the iron in her front teeth. Don’t yawn! You must force her to put the bit in her mouth.
Pull the bridle up with your right hand and, with the help of your left hand, pull the bridle over the nape of the horse.
Release the bangs from under the browband, straighten them and adjust the chinstrap: fasten it so that it does not tighten the horse’s skin and does not hang out.

A tight strap will disturb the horse, interfering with breathing, and too loose can cause the bridle to come off.

The chinstrap fits correctly when a fist passes between it and the horse’s neck.

The bridle is on, but do not rush behind the saddle … All detachable ends of the bridle straps should be fastened and well tucked in, and the bridle itself should fit the horse’s head without distortions, strictly symmetrically.

Check the length of the cheek strap as well. If the bits pull the corners of the horse’s mouth to the formation of folds or do not fit them at all, dropping to the front incisors, it is necessary to unfasten the buckle of the cheek strap, adjust its length.
