Puppy up to 1,5 months: what is it?
What happens to puppies from birth to 1,5 months old? How does their body develop? What do they feel, what stages do they go through? The most important thing about this tender period in our article.
Usually puppies get to a new home at the age of 2 months. Until that moment, the breeder will take care of their well-being. The future owner does not yet have the opportunity to communicate with the pet on a regular basis, but he can be interested in his well-being and success, study information about the physiological and emotional development. All this will help to be close to the pet from the very beginning of his life’s journey, albeit not yet in a literal sense.
Very soon the puppy will move to you. Be patient and prepare for this wonderful event!
A newborn puppy can fit in the palm of your hand. He is very tiny and defenseless: his eyes and ears are closed, he is just beginning to get acquainted with new smells and spends all the time under the saving mother’s side. But very little time will pass – and amazing metamorphoses will begin to take place with the baby. Here are the most effective ones.
- The puppy opens its eyes. This happens as early as 5-15 days of life.
- The first milk teeth appear. Approximately 3-4 weeks of life.
- The ear canal opens. Up to 2,5 weeks old.
- The puppy is ready for the first feeding. Although the main food of the puppy is still mother’s milk, after 2-3 weeks after birth, he is ready for the first complementary foods.
- The first food in a puppy’s life is called a starter. The starter is introduced already in the first month of life to cover the need of a growing organism for nutrients, help the formation of independent immunity and facilitate the transition to an “adult” diet in the future.
At the age of up to 1,5 months, even with the introduction of a starter, mother’s milk remains the main food for puppies.
In the first days after birth, the whole world of a puppy is his mother, brothers and sisters. He spends all the time with them, eats mother’s milk, sleeps a lot and gains strength to get to know the outside world. It can be said that the puppy is going through a gentle transition from uterine life to its independent journey on this side.
In just a couple of weeks, the puppy begins to see and his milk teeth erupt. The surrounding world, visual images, smells and even tastes open before him at a rapid speed. A few more days will pass – and the baby will begin to read and adopt the behavior of his mother, bully his brothers and sisters, recognize the people around him, and get acquainted with the “first” adult food. He is waiting for the first vaccination and treatment for parasites, and after that, almost the main event of his life is moving to a new home, to his real family. Prepare in advance for this day so that everything that he needs is waiting for the baby in the new place.
The most necessary items for a puppy you need to purchase in advance, before you bring the baby to the house. Ideally, coordinate purchases with the breeder so as not to make a mistake in choosing.
The first thing you will need is:
quality food,
two bowls: one for water and one for food,
couch. For the first time, a couch with sides is ideal, because. the sides will remind the puppy of the side of the mother and facilitate adaptation,
cage house (aviary),
disposable diapers,
treats and toys for puppies,
stocked first aid kit.
Do not forget to take some thing or a textile toy from the breeder, soaked in the smell of the mother and the house in which the baby was born. Put this thing in the puppy’s new place, on his couch. This will help him cope with stress and feel safe.
This list is the base from which you start your journey into the world of responsible dog breeding. Soon you will get to know your puppy’s needs better and will be able to create the most comfortable atmosphere for him.
We don’t doubt you!
