What are the puppy’s play styles?

  1. “Catch me if you can!” Puppies chase each other, and periodically change roles. If both puppies like to catch up or run away, a full-fledged game will not work. It is very important to ensure that both partners in the game enjoy it, that is, the one who catches up does not turn into a pursuer, and the one who runs away does not turn into a victim fleeing in horror.
  2. “Street dance”. Puppies touch each other with their paws, sometimes push with their backs, jump up and make circles around each other.
  3. “Friendly bite”. Dogs bite each other on the neck or parts of the body. At the same time, they can growl and demonstrate a full set of teeth. It is very important to observe the body language of the dogs here so that the game does not turn into a fight.
  4. “Freestyle wrestling”. One puppy runs into another, and then the fuss begins. However, keep in mind that not all dogs can appreciate this style of play. Some perceive such an impolite intrusion into individual distance as an attack and may respond accordingly. In addition, it is worth considering the weight categories of the players so that the fun does not end with injuries.

Whatever your puppy’s play style, you need to constantly monitor the dog’s body language and take breaks if the level of arousal begins to go off scale or at least one of the partners stops enjoying communication.
