Pod of eight stamens
Eight-stalk pondweed, scientific name Potamogeton octandrus. Various varieties of this species are widely distributed throughout tropical Africa, South and Southeast Asia, and Australia. It grows in swampy reservoirs in shallow water with silty substrates.
The plant forms a thin long stem several millimeters in diameter and filiform leaves without a pronounced leaf blade. Thickets of Rdesta eight-stalk resemble clusters of filamentous algae. When reaching the surface, green-brown convex elliptical leaves appear. Blooms with tiny white flowers.
Unpretentious in content. Optimum conditions are achieved in warm, soft, slightly acidic water with a high level of illumination. Rooting is recommended to be done in sandy soil. It grows quickly and requires regular pruning and thinning.
