Peristolifolia Madagascar
The Madagascar perististolium, the scientific name is Myriophyllum mezianum. As the name implies, this plant is native to the island of Madagascar. It grows in shallow water up to 1 meter deep, forming dense aggregations, as well as along the water’s edge on moist substrates.
It is considered the smallest species in the genus Cinnamon. In favorable aquarium conditions, it forms a short erect stem with pinnate leaves of light green color with very thin rare “needles”. The tops of the shoots are reddish. In the air, the stem and leaves noticeably thicken.
The Madagascar pinistolium is demanding on growth conditions. Needs soft warm water, a high level of light and additional introduction of carbon dioxide. The plant also needs nutritious soil. It is recommended to use special aquarium soil.
When planting in an aquarium for the first time, sprouts should be placed in groups of 2-3 pieces at a distance of about 5 cm so that during active growth they do not interfere with each other.
