Pearl with a crown
The exact year and place of appearance of this species of Goldfish is known. Crowned Pearl was bred by Shigeo Watanabe in 1978 in Gamagori, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. For several years, he carried out painstaking selection, selecting only those samples that had growths on the head of the desired shape. The result was a new look. There is an erroneous opinion that the Crown Pearl is a hybrid of the ordinary Pearl and the Water Eye.
A characteristic feature of this variety is the presence of large spherical outgrowths on the head, which are called the “crown”. Outwardly, they resemble a bubble, but this is a dense formation without liquid inside. Otherwise, it is identical to other Pearls: it has a short body with a large spherical abdomen and long fins. Coloring consists of a combination of red-orange and white flowers. In the most expensive representatives, the scales have a pearly sheen.
The content is similar to the maintenance of Goldfish. However, there are some nuances associated with the structure of the body. This species is a slow and rather clumsy swimmer, so it cannot compete with more active fish for food. In addition, it can become a prey to species prone to biting off elongated fins.
