Food

Undemanding to the diet look. Accepts various foods (dry, frozen, live) of suitable size. It is advisable to use a variety of foods, such as flakes or pellets with small bloodworms, brine shrimp.

Maintenance and care, arrangement of the aquarium

The size of Orizia Eversi allows you to keep a flock of these fish in a small tank from 60 liters. Decoration does not matter much, so decor elements are selected at the discretion of the aquarist. However, the fish will look most harmonious in an aquarium that resembles its natural habitat. You can use sandy soil mixed with stones, a few snags and plants. Fallen dry leaves will complement the decor, for example, leaves of Indian almond or oak.

High water quality is of paramount importance when keeping this species. Being a native of flowing waters, the fish are intolerant of the accumulation of organic waste, so the aquarium should be equipped with a productive filtration system. In addition, regular cleaning and weekly replacement of part of the water (20–30% of the volume) with fresh water is required. In general, the service is the same as with other types.

Behavior and Compatibility

Peaceful schooling fish. It is recommended to keep together with relatives and avoid other related Orizia, so as not to get hybrid offspring. Compatible with other calm fish of comparable size.

Breeding / breeding

Breeding is simple, just put males and females together. Orizia Eversi, like her relatives, has an unusual way of bearing future offspring. The female lays 20–30 eggs, which she carries with her. They are attached by thin threads near the anal fin in the form of a cluster. The incubation period lasts about 18–19 days. At this time, the female prefers to hide among the thickets so that the eggs are safer. After the appearance of fry, parental instincts weaken and adult fish can eat their own offspring. To increase survival, they can be caught and placed in a separate tank.

Fish diseases

Hardy and unpretentious fish. Diseases manifest themselves only with a significant deterioration in the conditions of detention. In a balanced ecosystem, health problems usually do not occur. For more information on symptoms and treatments, see the Aquarium Fish Diseases section.
