Nutraceuticals in bird feed

In the feed industry, nutraceuticals are understood as additional sources of vitamins, minerals, protein, carbohydrates, amino acids and dietary fiber. They are used as biologically active food supplements to enhance its nutritional value.

Nutraceuticals are found in all foods and ingested with food, but their amount may not be enough. The reason is an unbalanced diet and other factors, for example, unfavorable ecology, serious illnesses, reduced immunity, a period of rapid growth, hormonal disruptions.

With a lack of nutraceuticals, the body cannot fully perform its functions and becomes vulnerable to various diseases. And the intake of an additional complex of nutraceuticals into the body allows you to avoid negative consequences. 

The main purpose of nutraceuticals is to regulate the balance of nutrients in the body, to eliminate their excess or deficiency.

It is very difficult to create a perfectly balanced diet for a parrot at home, so nutraceuticals are a real salvation. Thanks to them, the pet receives all the necessary nutrients, and in the right amount.

Nutraceuticals are also used in therapy: to prevent the primary or recurrence of the disease. Enriching the body with useful substances and regulating metabolism, they effectively fight overweight, diseases of the bones and joints, cardiovascular and oncological diseases. Some nutraceuticals have an immunostimulatory effect.

Nutraceuticals are many and each of them has its own properties. But what exactly are nutraceuticals in pet food, and what do they do? Let’s take a look at these questions with a specific example.

According to the composition, the complex includes: yeast, Chicory inulin, FOS, plant products, beta-glucans, nucleotides, yucca schidigera, borage oil (Omega-6), fatty acids (Omega-3 DHA + EPA + DPA). • Borage oil is a natural source of gamma-linolenic acid, an omega-6 fatty acid. The oil cleanses the blood, treats diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, regulates hormonal levels, and also has an immunostimulating and anti-inflammatory effect.
• Fatty acids (Omega-3 DHA + EPA + DPA). They stabilize the heart rhythm, prevent cancer, increase life expectancy, maintain the health of the skin and feathers. Thanks to fatty acids, parrots have healthy skin and beautiful plumage.

And these are just some of the benefits. Of course, to achieve the result, the diet with nutraceuticals must be used on an ongoing basis so that the balance of nutrients in the body is maintained regularly.
