Nayada horrida
Naiad horrida, scientific name Najas horrida “Lake Edward”. The Russian transcription also uses the name Nayas Horrida. It is a closely related species in relation to the Marine Naiad. It was first discovered in Lake Edward in Central Africa, on the border between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The natural habitat extends throughout tropical Africa and the island of Madagascar. It is found everywhere: in lakes, swamps, brackish lagoons, backwaters of rivers, as well as in ditches, ditches.
Grows underwater. Sometimes the tips of the leaves can protrude above the surface. In favorable conditions, it forms dense floating clusters of strongly branched stems up to a meter in length. It is fixed to the ground with thin white roots. Needle-shaped leaves (up to 3 cm in length) are covered with triangular teeth with a brown tip.
Naiad Horrida is considered a simple and undemanding plant. Feels great in a wide range of pH and dGH values, does not need additional nutrients. Trace elements formed during the life of fish will be quite enough for healthy growth. It grows very fast and requires regular pruning. In aquariums, it is located in the middle or background, or floats on the surface. Not recommended for small tanks.
