Mosaic Corridor
Mosaic Corydoras or Corydoras Harald Schultz, scientific name Corydoras haraldschultzi, belongs to the Callichthyidae family. One of its names is in honor of the Brazilian fish exporter Harald Schulz, who made the Mosaic Corydoras a popular aquarium species. It comes from the basin of the Guapore River (port. Rio Guaporé), which is part of the Amazon. It flows through the territory of Brazil and Bolivia, in one of the sections it serves as a natural border between these states. It lives in small tributaries of a larger river, streams, backwaters and lakes formed as a result of flooding of forest areas. The aquatic environment is characterized by an abundance of dissolved tannins and, as a result, has a rich brown color.
Description
Adults reach a length of about 8 cm. The body pattern consists of numerous dark specks, some merge with each other, forming an intricate ornament and forming irregular stripes. The background coloration has a subtle pinkish tint, which is most pronounced on the abdomen. Sexual dimorphism is weakly expressed, males are practically indistinguishable from females, the latter are perhaps somewhat larger.
