Marsilia four-leafed or Marsilia crenata (transcription from Latin), scientific name Marsilea crenata. It grows naturally in tropical Asia and Australia. It occurs in shallow water and along the coastline on wet silty substrates.

Often referred to as an aquarium plant, which is not entirely true. Often, other closely related species are supplied instead, for example, Marsilius australis.

According to the Ferns of Western Australia publication, Marsilia crenate has a long creeping rhizome, on which leaf blades are alternately located at a distance of 1–4 cm. Depending on the depth, the petioles of the leaflets can reach up to 30 cm. edges measuring 2–5 mm each. Under water, a leaf blade can have one leaflet.

Suitable for use in aquariums and paludariums. Marsilia quatrefoil is easy to keep. Soft slightly acidic water, nutrient soil and medium to high light levels are considered the optimal growth environment. The temperature regime is not significant. The lower limit is at 18 ° C, so it can be grown in unheated tanks.
